Ooh, Kurosawa, rich vein there: THRONE OF BLOOD - Macbeth, William Shakespeare 4. Sense & Sensibility, Ang Lee version -- from Jane Austen's novel SENSE & SENSIBILITY. Best Austen adaptation ever. 5. STAND BY ME from the novel by Stephen King. What? It's really good! 6. REMAINS OF THE DAY by Merchant Ivory, based on the Booker Prize winning novel by Kazuo Ishiguro 7. HEARTS IN ATLANTIS by Stephen King based on the book of the same name. 8. On The Beach based on novel, On the Beach by Nevil Shute. (Oi wonder if he is Australian, since it is set in Australia.) Nope, he's not. 9. THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO oh yes! by Stieg Larson on the novel of the same name. A memorable heroine. You'll see. 10. WILLY WONKA & THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY based on story Charlie And the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl 11. THE RAILWAY CHILDREN (1970) based on the famous book by E. Nesbit. Probably famous only to little Britoosh childrun like me. And there haf been tons of great TV serials based on this novel too! 12. OLIVER based on Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens
