I have been trying to plan or decide on a birthday gift for Tyler's birthday coming up in Aug. I thought a trip might be a nice gift because once Tyler buys a house (his condo is still for sale) he will get a dog and then probably won't want to travel much.
I have been trying to come up with a destination that we would both enjoy. Somewhere not too far (not too many hours on the plane from Vancouver, so not Asia) since Tyler said he didn't want to go on a plane ride that long unless it's in first class.
When we were talking about trips before (not as a gift just in general) Tyler wanted our next trip to more more relaxing and less of an adventure. He doesn't really like beaches or swimming though (I on the other hand love beaches and swimming). Tyler does like history and museums.
My first idea was to go to the Bahamas and stay at the Atlantis Resort ( Tyler told me about this place a while ago).

I think Atlantis would have enough things that we would both enjoy but after reading many reviews of the place, I'm not sure it's worth it. The reviews seem to be mixed but overall I think there were more negative ones then positive ones. The negative ones often comment on the excessively expensive food in all the restaurants. Also rooms that smelled badly of strong cleaning chemicals (which would be terrible for me and my allergies).
Another idea I had was to go some where in south Amercia. I think I looked at Panama, and costa rica. There was a place where there was a rain forest t our and monkey's often climbed into riverboats. I know Tyler would love that since he loves monkey's. But I can't remember exactly where that was. I researched between my 4 consecutive night shift that I did in the past few days and now my brain is fried in tiredness.
Another destination I had in mind is Hawaii. Fritto are there any monkey's in Hawaii? (not in zoo's)?
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I might go to a travel agency but I don't want to, because when Tyler and I booked our Vegas trip through one, we ended up wishing we didn't.
