How sad this is. Now if I wrote about this story in my book, commenting on the EEK~~~!!! psychic cord!!! element - the editors'd want a happy ending... Why is it scary, exactly, Shoey? I need to know for my research. because it is so close to home literally. I live a 2-3 minute car ride away from that beach... Our neighborhood (not considered part of the departure bay neighborhood we have our own name) was recently named by the police one of Nanaimo's safest neighborhoods.

I'm curious, because murder/suicides - if that's what it is - are generally intensely personal and not threatening to others. Is there any more news about what happened?

Not yet, I think they are waiting to notify the family(s). Tomorrow or Tuesday there will likely be more news on it.. If it was suicide then it's not scary to me, just a little weird why they would do it in such a public place. Departure Bay Beach is very popular year round. People are always walking along that stretch. It's also a very busy road with many businesses along it, and houses too. I would have thought people committing suicide would do it in a much more private space like their home.. This is what ctv news had to say about it..yesterday www.ctvbc.ctv.ca/servlet/an/local/CTVNews/20101030/bc_bodies_found_101030/20101030?hub=BritishColumbiaHome

And maybe the spot where they were was beautiful for a last view. Or it was significant for them in some way. It's still sad.
On another note, it's so interesting to see the RCMP still retain their original name even though I didn't see a single red serge tunic or black horse. The hat is fabulous, though!

The RCMP still have their red uniform! They don't wear it for general duty though. It is for special occasions, but they do wear it often. They still ride horses too though! Here in Nanaimo they only do it for special occassions, but there are still parts of Canada that use mounted police for daily duty.

Thats still not a lot of info. Wheres the 70 yr old dad? Were there financial problems? In Japan, old people haf been known to lay their heads on railroad tracks when they want to die. Makes me want to start a lovely Old Folks Home everywhere I go so these horrid things dont happen. OLD FOLKS are IMPORTANT Too, DAMMIT!

I bought 2 items at the craft fair. A blue star fish ornament for my nautical tree, and a new kind of chocolate! Garlic chocolate! I think I will give it to my dad. He loves garlic...
