Last night I watched Youth in Revolt. I liked it up until the end. Then they ruined it by giving it a happy ending. They should have ended it by having him sitting in jail plotting what he was going to do after he was released. It would have been more Indy, but I like that.

The last movie I watched was Inception and now I think I'm insane! All your hard work has been undone Avril! It's all just been a dream. Oof, my brain is scrambled.

I could have seen Inception last night but saw Animal Kingdom instead. Jacki Weaver is the most evil mother you could imagine. Brilliant performance by Weaver and not bad by the others, but I think the movie itself drags and meanders and the pace doesn't match that of the trailer. The movie is based on events in the lives of the Melbourne criminal Pettinghill family a few years ago. Interestingly, I remember Ben Mendelsohn who played the lead, emerged on the Oz acting scene at the same time as Russell Crowe. At the time, we all thought Ben was more talented and would go further than Russ. Only Russ made it in Hollywood and Ben - who has been in some very dark places in his life - has not, really.

I saw The Kids Are All Right last night.
Pretty good. Funny. Annette Bening is exceptionally good as a really horrible control freak that I hated purely on the principle of not being able to stand anyone who shows similar traits to oneself. Mia Wasikowska and Julianne Moore are great, natural and nuanced. Mark Ruffalo is lovely and very hot.

Last night I watched Edge of Darkness. It wasn't so dark. Where was the darkness part? I still liked it though. The years have not been kind to Mel Gibson. He looks leathery and wrinkled. A few days before that I watched Percy Jackson. It was okay. Modern retelling of Greek myths. Uma Thurman as Medusa.

Percy Jackson was a waste of time. The usual, hunting for the answer using Greek mythology as the backdrop. Cheap!! I say..
Anywho, I only just realised that I watched Tales from Earthsea last weekend.
Very nice simple message of life purpose. What do you live for? Passion, knowledge, power or most important of them all Love.
