June 14th, 2012 Today I harvested 1 zucchini (my 3rd one) and planted 8 Cosmos seeds behind my garden and 2 Cosmos seeds in front of the shed. I have never seen a Cosmos plant in real life and I am afraid they will be monsterous. Next spring I will plant more if I like them.

I was going to make a website for my garden journal but then I realized I could do it here instead. I come here every day. I need more flower seeds to attract butterflies and bees and such. Also, it will make things prettier around here.

Here the birds often drop seeds probably when they poop, and we get all kinds of flowers (and sometimes tree seedlings) that we never planted! Yup more flowers in your yard will attract more bees and butterflies for sure

8 cosmos seeds! From 8 cosmos seeds, a jungle will grow. LOLL. Well, thats if you spread more cosmos seeds from the flowerheads when they dry up.

Ohh! That's what birds do! I wondered why I needed birds in my garden. These don't look 2 meters high. Maybe I should plant more. Hmm..

Urmmm .. I think you'll need more than 8 cosmos seeds to get that effect. Hee. And I thinks this particular mix is called Cosmos Sensation.

June 15th 2012Today I harvested 6 Basil leaves and 6 or 7 Baby Carrots. I took the basil leaves off the top to encourage branching. I've never done that before so I don't know what will happen. I read it online. I don't think I will plant baby carrots again. They are too adorable to eat. It made me sad to harvest them. The other day I ate a Red Delicious Apple and planted one of the seeds in a pot. Today it sprouted.

June 16th 2012Today I harvested 1 more zucchini, for a total of 4 this season, and 2 small turnips for a total of 4 turnips this season. Today was the first monsoon of the season! It was awesome. All the neighbors started cheering the rain including me an my mom. We were both outside hanging laundry at the time. Most of the laundry was saved but a few things had to be left on the clothesline. We sat on the porch and watched the entire thing. After the rain had passed hundreds of bugs came out to dry off but they were too soggy to fly. After the bugs came out many grey lizards emerged from their rock houses and began feasting on the soggy bugs. It was an awesome display of nature! As the bugs dried off they began to fill the air and they flew everywhere leaving the earthbound lizards far below. It was a pretty awesome thing to see. Yay for monsoons!

I just googled Nanaimo rainfall. It says you get 1077.9 mm per year!! That's 42 inches!! And Pea you get 736.6 mm, or 29 inches of rain! Tucson only gets 304.8 mm, or 12 inches per year. Waaah! Why is your rain in millimeters? That's weird. Stop being metric. lol. 1077.9 mm is insane! That's so much! You should live on a boat. Sasha should have a boat dog house. Your shoes should be boats. How can you have so much rain? Do you have a lot of frogs there? I think I am going to go outside to plant some more cosmos. It's a beautiful cool morning here. I think I will plant 7 more.

Yes we do have quite a few frogs here. I think they are cute (the little ones anyways).
I only know the metric system. They don't teach anything else in Canada schools. When patients have questions about temperatures in the American system (what is it called again)? I have no idea how to answer them unless I go online to a computer and use a converter.
It's weird even other stuff in health care like labs tests I discovered in nursing school after buying some text books that proved to be use less to me for that reason that other medical lab values are different systems in Canada vs the US.
